2011

2011 was the year that would be remembered as the start to the magnificent and euphoric event that we today know as the Summerburst Festival. With crowd pulling acts like Swedish rising star Avicii, Stockholm born Eric Prydz and French legend David Guetta the downtown festival served up a list of top artists. Together they entered Stockholm Stadion and delivered a show that really set the foundation for coming years on the Swedish festival scene.

2012

2012 was the year that Summerburst was to expand the festival’s capacity. What had been a full day of partying in Stockholm now became a two-day festival and an additional stage was added, as the festival was established also in Gothenburg. This was the summer when we got to see Avicii and Deadmau5 perform in Gothenburg, while artists like Calvin Harris and Sebastian Ingrosso entered the stage in Stockholm. Axwell, Alesso, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike amongst many others performed in both cities.

2013

In 2013 Summerburst had established itself as one of the biggest festivals in Sweden and Scandinavia. After the successful year of 2012 when the festival was extended to two days, and opened up the festival gates in Gothenburg as well, there were many people looking forward to the 2013 festival. With the maximum number of visitors in both cities, the audience got to see artists such as Steve Aoki, Axwell, Zedd, Steve Angello, Hardwell, Alesso, W&W, Sebastian Ingrosso and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike at Stockholm Stadion on June 14–15 and at Ullevi on June 7–8

2014

2014 was the year when Summerburst in Stockholm moved to Gärdet in order to give visitors the ultimate festival experience. 2014 was also the year when Summerburst announced that another scene would be added with a slightly different music direction from the big stage. It was the year when Orion Area was added to the festival site. Orion Area was to be home to the harder music and where alternative artists from the electronic dance genres hard-style, trance and psy-trance would be booked. The 2014 edition of the festival was visited by a total of 110,000 people, who got to experience artists like Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Tiesto, Steve Angello, Martin Garrix, Rebecca & Fiona, Showtek, Aly & Fila and the world’s best DJ 2014, Hardwell at Ullevi on May 30–31 and Gärdet on June 13–14.

In 2015 Summerburst celebrated five years as a festival. Something which the organizer couldn’t have imagined before the launch of Summerburst in 2011. The festival that had grown enormously would return to Nya Ullevi in Gothenburg on May 29–30, and to Gärdet in Stockholm on June 12–13. Orion Area - the hugely popular additional stage from last year — would return this year as well. The festival sold out a month in advance in Gothenburg and in both cities the audience got to experience DJ’s like Avicii, Axwell /\ Ingrosso, Blasterjaxx, Oliver Heldens, Afrojack, Will Sparks, Martin Garrix, Miss K8 and Angerfist.

2016 was a year when Summerburst Festival, just like in previous years, was held in both Gothenburg and Stockholm. The festival took place on May 27–28 at Nya Ullevi and June 10-11 at Gärdet and as usual it attracted a large audience over the four days. At the Main Stage you got to see big stars like Axwell /\ Ingrosso, Kygo, Alesso, David Guetta, Armin van Buuren, Nervo, Steve Angello, Icona Pop, Alan Walker and Diplo. In the Orion Area DJ’s like Brennan Heart, Frontliner, Masters Elite, Miss K8 and Coone performed, which really set the tone for a euphoric Summerburst.

In 2017 Summerburst was back at Ullevi in Gothenburg and Gärdet in Stockholm. This year a new stage was for the Summerburst visitors in Stockholm – the Garden Stage. It was the year when we got to experience some really big EDM stars at the Main Stage, amongst others Tiesto, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, David Guetta, Axwell /\ Ingrosso, Eric Prydz, Steve Angello and Nervo. It was also the year when Justin Bieber and Zara Larsson would perform at the downtown festival. In the Orion Area acts like Wildstylez, Warface, D-Sturb and Adrenalize performed.

In 2018 Summerburst was bigger than ever in terms of booked artists and number of stages. Never before had so many acts been booked, but then there had never been three stages in the festival area — in both cities. This was also the year when Summerburst in Stockholm returned to Stockholm Stadion, something which the Stockholm audience had really longed for. A new stage this year was Love Affair which would focus on techno and deep house. Then there was the Main Stage where you got to see DJ’s such as Armin van Buuren, Axwell /\ Ingrosso, Will Sparks, Galantis and ’DJ Mag’s #1 DJ’ – Martin Garrix, as well as the Garden Stage, a more intimate and shielded area of the festival where well-established EDM artists would perform.

In 2019 Summerburst was again back at Ullevi in Gothenburg and Stadion in Stockholm. This was also the year when Summerburst would arrange the Gothenburg edition of Summerburst in the beginning of the summer as usual, while the Stockholm festival was moved to the end of the summer. This way the Summerburst summer was extended, while the light shows became even more striking thanks to the skies getting dark earlier in the evening. The Gothenburg audience got to continue enjoying the summer light. This year, amongst others, DJ’s like Calvin Harris, Tiësto, Salvatore Ganacci, Will Sparks, Rebecca & Fiona and Otto Knows performed on the big stage and at the Garden Stage you got to see DJ’s like Albin Myers, Ehrling, Steerner, N0SEFIN and Jubël.
