In 2015 Summerburst celebrated five years as a festival. Something which the organizer couldn’t have imagined before the launch of Summerburst in 2011. The festival that had grown enormously would return to Nya Ullevi in Gothenburg on May 29–30, and to Gärdet in Stockholm on June 12–13. Orion Area – the hugely popular additional stage from last year — would return this year as well. The festival sold out a month in advance in Gothenburg and in both cities the audience got to experience DJ’s like Avicii, Axwell /\ Ingrosso, Blasterjaxx, Oliver Heldens, Afrojack, Will Sparks, Martin Garrix, Miss K8 and Angerfist.

While Summerburst were presenting the artists to perform, tickets were getting sold at high speed, which resulted in tickets being sold out well before the festival. And it would soon come to show that Summerburst not only generated amazing memories and experiences, but the festival also left a big impression from an economic perspective. In Gothenburg the economic impact of tourism amounted to more than a million euros . In total 120,000 people visited Summerburst over four days in Gothenburg and Stockholm, where the audience got to see DJ’s such as Avicii, Axwell /\ Ingrosso, Blasterjaxx, Oliver Heldens, Afrojack, Will Sparks, Martin Garrix, Don Diablo, Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman, Dyro, Tigerlily, Kryder, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Matisse & Sadko, MyBack, Angerfist, Miss K8 and Frontliner. After the summer, an official after-movie was released with material from the festival, produced by Opa People. Currently the movie has almost half a million views.

2015 was the year when Summerburst Festival celebrated five year as a festival. At this point in time Summerburst had grown by an incredible 800% since the start in 2011. The festival had gone from being one to two days, Gothenburg had been added as a location as well as additional stages. ”We are extremely happy and proud to see what Summerburst has become. Even if we knew there was a demand for a festival like Summerburst, we could have never anticipated that it would grow at this speed,” the festival management said when the news about Summerburst’s fifth anniversary came out. When Summerburst turned five years in 2015, the goal was to celebrate this in a spectacular way. In November it was revealed that Summerburst had booked the, now tragically deceased, Swedish superstar Avicii, who also released his acclaimed album ’Stories’ in 2015. ”It’s going to be a lot of fun to be back on the Summerburst stage again. It was five years since last time and I will never forget the feeling I had when I was performing at Summerburst the first time. It was truly amazing, but I promise 2015 will be even better. Hope to see you at Nya Ullevi in Gothenburg and Gärdet in Stockholm this summer,” Avicii said back then. The two shows were to be his only performances in Sweden that year and the organizer had really dropped a bomb to all the fans. But it didn’t end there. A few weeks after Summerburst had announced that Avicii would perform it was announced that the Swedish giants Axwell /\ Ingrosso would perform both in Gothenburg and Stockholm as their recently formed duo, that released the hit ’Sun Is Shining’ the same year. ”We’re incredibly happy and proud that Axwell /\ Ingrosso have chosen to headline Summerburst in both Gothenburg and Stockholm. We know they always deliver over and beyond — so congratulations to everyone coming to the festival this summer,” the festival management said. 2015 was also the year when duo MyBack released the festival theme song. The duo, which is made up by two well-known names from the EDM world, Albin Myers and John Dahlbäck, wrote the song ’Vibe’ together with the singer ILY.  ”The song represents Swedish melancholy mixed with great euphoria and is about how cold we are in the winter and how we come to life in the summer,” said Albin Myers. Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, who also performed at Summerburst in 2015, were titled ’World’s Best DJ’s’ by DJ Mag, later that year.
