2014 was the year when Summerburst in Stockholm moved to Gärdet in order to give visitors the ultimate festival experience. 2014 was also the year when Summerburst announced that another scene would be added with a slightly different music direction from the big stage. It was the year when Orion Area was added to the festival site. Orion Area was to be home to the harder music and where alternative artists from the electronic dance genres hard-style, trance and psy-trance would be booked. The 2014 edition of the festival was visited by a total of 110,000 people, who got to experience artists like Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Tiesto, Steve Angello, Martin Garrix, Rebecca & Fiona, Showtek, Aly & Fila and the world’s best DJ 2014, Hardwell at Ullevi on May 30–31 and Gärdet on June 13–14.

In anticipation of the 2014 festival, Summerburst was facing yet another summer with the goal to deliver the best possible show and experience for everybody involved. Every year the guests have an opportunity to have their say in which artists they would like to see perform at Summerburst. Before the 2014 edition of the festival, there was a big interest for artists from the electronic dance genres hard-style, trance and psy-trance. Therefore another scene was added to the 2014 edition — and the Orion Area was born. The same year Summerburst in Stockholm was moved from Stadion to Gärdet. To have the festival on an open field opened up many new possibilities that weren’t doable before. When Summerburst in Stockholm moved to Gärdet the organizer wanted to offer something more than the previous festival area had. At Gärdet there was no real limits as the area is an open field. The result was a festival area spanning 20,000 square meters, where floors were laid to avoid the mud. There was a Ferris wheel, a volleyball court, a ropeway that went over the public sea and the opportunity to take a helicopter ride over the area. In Gothenburg Summerburst stayed at Ullevi, which had worked really well the previous year. Summerburst Festival had now reached an international standard. By offering these activities to the guests, together with a lineup on the big stage that included DJ’s such as Hardwell, who would get the title ’World’s Best DJ’ by DJ Mag later that year, Steve Angello, who together with Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman had released the song ’Payback’ that year, Tiesto, who the same year released ’Red Lights’ and Calvin Harris, who later would release his album ’Motion’, David Guetta, Martin Garrix, Deniz Koyu, Dada Life, Krewella, R3hab, John Dahlbäck, Sebjak, Cazzette, Fedde Le Grand, Rebecca & Fiona, and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and with DJ’s like Aly & Fila, Brennan Heart, Psyko Punkz, Showtek and Wildstylez in the Orion Area, it was a magic festival both in Stockholm and Gothenburg with 110,000 people visiting Summerburst in the both cities. This year too, a theme song was released for the festival. The choice fell on the Swedish producer and DJ Sebjak who released the song ’We Are’.
